SONIFES was conceived in 2009 to be an annual cultural fiesta that celebrates Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage – and deploys our unique artforms as tools for addressing germane societal concerns. At SONIFES, we sing, dance and do more, but not merely for their aesthetic or/and entertainment worth, but their functional value.

The festival is endorsed by The Presidency, Federal Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (as it then was), United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Society for Performing Arts of Nigeria (SPAN) and Musical copyright Society of Nigeria (MCSN), and many others.
